About Us

The firm of Messrs. Wong Poon Chan Law & Co. was established in September 1985.

We now have 4 partners and a staff establishment of 23 including 1 consultant and 2 assistant solicitors. We have our principal office in Central, occupying the whole of the 17th Floor of Hong Kong Trade Centre at 161-167 Des Voeux Road Central, and a branch office in Sai Kung, New Territories.

In addition, we represent the banks and financial institutions in commercial loans security documents such as debentures, share charges and loan agreements.
We represent a number of property developers in Hong Kong in relation to legal work on the development of residential and commercial premises in Hong Kong, especially in the Tai Po and Sai Kung area in the New Territories.

A number of listed companies and foreign corporations are among our clients. We advise and act for them on the legal aspects of their business activities including stock exchange compliance matters.

We represent a number of business enterprises and companies from Mainland China and advise them on the setting up of their operations, and acquisition of business in Hong Kong and overseas.

We also advise local and foreign corporations investing and setting up business and joint ventures in Mainland China including setting up and extending their business in Mainland China under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (“CEPA”). Our work involves obtaining the necessary CEPA Certificates for Hong Kong Service Supplier (HKSS) from the Trade and Industry Department in order to enable clients to apply to the relevant Mainland authorities for provision of relevant services in the Mainland under CEPA. We also give advice on joint venture contracts and acquisition and merger agreements.

The professional qualifications and experience of all our partners and consultant have been recognised by the Ministry of Justice in China by their appointment as China Appointed Attesting Officers.
